At Little Wildlings Home Daycare I believe that learning should be fun! My play based approach to early childhood education promotes creativity, curiosity, and exploration. I provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow. My home daycare is specifically designed for children 18 months - 4 years old although younger children are welcome to still apply.
Different areas of creativity for the children include:
Social and Emotional Development
Gross Motor Skills
Fine Motor Skills
Arts and crafts
* Please note: I only do structured crafts around specific events for example Mothers Day and Fathers Day. I leave Playdoh and crayons out for the littles to do on their own time when they would like too. I believe in allowing to children to produce what they would like to with their own thoughts and imaginations.
I put alot of time, effort and thought into creating an environment that the children will enjoy, learn from and appreciate.
As much as my Little Wildlings love our Home Space, I feel it’s important for them to get out in the community. Greenboro East is filled with pathways ideal for Nature Walks, Green spaces and many, many parks. We also are lucky enough to be within a 10 minute walk of an amazing library and Community centre in the same building.
We attend Kindergym twice a week which is a safe place for the children to run and play with neighbourhood friends and connect with our community. Storytime is offered at the Library in both English and French. The children listen to stories and engage in special songs and dance. it’s a favourite for everyone! In the warmer months we often pack a lunch and will hit the local splash pads for some safe, fun water play.

"It was important to us that our daughter was in care with someone that felt like family, and Jessica acheived just that. She provided a nurturing and fun environment for 3 years and was an integral part of our daughter's childhood and learning. We valued her easy and open communication style, her persistence to get outdoors no matter the weather and endless support of our family with sleep, potty training and the tough times of the toddler years."

Hello! My name is Jessica and I have been running an in home daycare for 12 years both in Old Ottawa South and here in Greenboro East. Prior to being a daycare provider I was a private nanny for many different families throughout old Ottawa South and Downtown Ottawa. I began my childcare career in 1999 when I lived in Germany as a nanny and then became a T.A. At the Taunus International Montessori school for 3 years. My love of natural elements and Loose parts stems from my time at the Montessori School. I moved on to Copenhagen, Denmark where I met my husband. I am originally from the GTA but we both decided a better fit for us would be Ottawa. I opened my daycare in Old Ottawa South in 2012. When we moved to Greenboro East my lovely families followed me from the Glebe and Old Ottawa South and one as far away as China town. I have 3 children who are 15, 12 and 5 and love that they grew up in a home daycare. We have 2 Tuxedo cats a brother and sister named Sofia and Cassian. They are indoor cats who think they are outdoor cats! They get their yearly wellness checks and rabies vaccinations. I have my current CPR and first Aid and I get it updated every 2 years. My husband and I both have our updated vulnerable Sector checks as well.
Communication has always bent important to me! I love to chat with my families and get to know them on a personal level. We laugh and cry together and build each other up. Mutual respect and understanding is key to making our Daycare family work.
I have an app where I send pictures daily or try to at least! Parents are free to text me and often I’ve had parents come in for a quick cup of coffee when they drop off their own Ltitle Ones. I love building a community and a village.

Our Day to Day life is fairly consistent. We have an outing/activity in the morning followed by lunch and rest time.
All children in my care will have a scheduled rest time. Rest time is in a darkened room with lullabies playing. All children have their own mats or pack n play and blankets. No one is forced to sleep just as no one is forced to stay awake. Rest time is an important part of our routine. We are a busy group with large imaginations and lots of creative play. It’s an important time for littles to take a moment, relax and let their brains take a break. Non nappers are allowed books and quiet activities on their sleep mats.

We all get sick… it happens!
I keep the space clean and disinfect toys and equipment regularly. However when you child does get sick 48 hour fever free and diarrhea free without medication is required. If you are unsure if you can send your child send me a text and ask or refer to my policies and procedures document.
We wash hands often and children are taught to sneeze in their elbows, blow their own noses and to cover their coughs.
All children in care are expected to have all their up to date vaccinations or scheduled to receive them.

"Jessica was my childcare provider for my first child , way back when. I truly feel we became family. So when my second child came along, there was no question in my mind, if Jessica had space that's where I wanted my daughter to go. Thankfully Jessica had a spot for her. And when Jessica's family moved to their forever home, we stayed with her too!! I couldn't imagine my babies anywhere else."

It takes a village to raise a child. I work really hard to find the right families to include in my village. We respect each other, work together communicate daily. My daycare families are an extension of my own. They are invited into my home, interact with my children and feel like they are coming to spend the day with friends and family instead of just going to daycare. I strive to create an environment where children feel as comfortable here as they would be at home.

"I truly can't say enough about Jessica's daycare. From day one she has provided a warm, playful environment where my childs confidence has grown in leaps and bounds. Whether exploring the community or playing in Jessica's thoughtfully -curated space, the kids always have ample oppoutunity to burn off their wiggles, exercise their imaginations, and build their independence in a safe, supportive environment. Jessica is more than just a childcare provider for us--she's a key member of my child's village."

" Jessica has been taking care of my daughter since she was 3 years old. She is very warm in her interactions and very genuine. She has a great sense of community while taking care of children in a nurturing, play based environment. My daughters development in such an environment has prospered. She is honest and listens to all my questions. I thank her every day for her hard work!"

"We had a fabulous experience with Jessica. We sent both our kids to her and were so sad when we had to pull our second due to a location change. She essentially potty-trained our first, which we are eternally grateful for. She's extremely compassionate, empathetic, straight forward, and up to date on current safety practices. Couldn't recommend her enough!
